I drove by Yoshida while exploring the area around my client's site in Connecticut. So today at lunch, after running an errand, I grabbed my book and headed to Yoshida. Yoshida is located along the busy Boston Post road and has a good sized par kin lot. When I walked in the place was almost empty but during the course of my stay several other people came in.

Yoshida has a pretty complete Japanese menu, so it would be a good place to go with a companion who does not like sushi. I ordered from the lunch menu and chose a sashimi combo with an order of gyoza as an appetizer. Service was prompt and friendly. With my water, the waitress brought me a dish of what I can only describe as Japanese pretzels.

The gyoza at Yoshida was especially good. It was prepared well and served with a dipping sauce with just a trace of spiciness. I have had dipping sauce that was too hot to eat or too mild to taste — this was perfect. The sashimi came next, garnished with shredded daikon. The daikon seemed exceptionally fresh and crispy.

The presentation was nice but not spectacular. My combo was a bargain at $9.95 with white tuna, yellow tail, tuna, salmon, shrimp and crabstick. All of the fish was very good. I enjoyed everything about my meal.

When I am in the neighborhood, I will make Yoshida a regular stop.
