When I looked it up on the Internet, I did not realize that I had been to Sushi Taro before. But as I got close the neighborhood started to look familiar. Sushi Taro is located in Washington, DC's trendy Dupont Circle district. Sushi Taro is conveniently located two blocks away from the Dupont Circle metro station. It turns out that I have been to Sushi Taro's sister restaurant, Mikaku Sushi Taro in Herndon, Virginia.

Sushi Taro is located on the top floor of a corner building that houses a BlockBuster Video store in the basement and a drugstore at ground level. I had to look a bit for the entrance, I found it around the side near the loading dock. As is my custom, I showed up near closing time. Surprisingly the restaurant was nearly full and quite noisy.

Sushi Taro had a few specials but I was in the mood for a sashimi combo. When my sashimi arrived it was a bit ordinary looking. The tuna, salmon, yellowtail were all very good. I especially enjoyed the staff singing Happy Birthday with a distinctive Japanese accent.

Sushi Taro is the kind of place I visit on a regular basis, consistently good but not the best of the best.
