As a business traveler, I spend way too much time in airports. I have had airport sushi but it has always been pre-packaged, edible but nothing special. I had seen Sora before while passing through DTW but never had time to stop.
This time, while passing through on my way to Paris with my wife, she suggested we eat at Sora. This was especially surprising since she doesn't usually like sushi.
Sora is a Japanese restaurant with both a sushi bar and table dining. My wife ordered Gyoza Ramen the noodles were great and my wife loved the Gyoza. I ordered a sashimi combo. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was very good.
Sora does a good job doing what airport restaurants must do. When you sit down, the service is good and you are made to feel relaxed, while at the same time everyone knows that there are flights to catch and everyone is in a hurry to some degree. As we sat, ,my soda got refilled but the check came and my credit card was processed quickly.
Sora is in the A concourse near the middle. In the past I have eaten at McDonalds, from now on, when I have a layover in Detroit, you can find me at Sora.

I absolutly agree as i had same experience 2 months ago. Me and family stranded in detroit for 5 hours. We decided to eat at Sora as airline gave us some voucher. As we walk in, an asian guy greet us with smile event he carry tray with food on his hand. As we sit down, the asian guy turn out to be our server.he carried glass water for us with menu in hand and let us know will be with us in moment.his name is gary as we joke that is not asian name.
After we paid the bill, he approach us n tell me to go to terminal c to relax. he said it is not that bussy.
We will eat there again.the sushi was great and some are really big roll. Event my son remember the roll name.

I fly into detroit all the time last time I was there the tables were all taken so I sat at the bar just trying to enjoy my sushi and watch some tv. All of a sudden heard an asian lady yelling in a different language it was the same lady who stood in front of the restaurant with a straight face she didn't smile or greet. I don’t know if she was the hostess or the manager but most of us at the bar heard the shouting coming from the kitchen. The food is usually good the service is fast but this time it was just very unpleasant. My waitress came up to me and apologized after she saw the look on my face. I asked her next time to save a seat for me in the back of the restaurant.

It is totally unprofessional for servers to drop their phone numbers in their customers laps.

i fly a lots and this time my flight was delayed, so I decided to try at Sora. the asian lady in front greeted me and took me to the table, I asked if there was any veggie items on menu, she showed me and gave me other options, and told me would bring server to take my order right the way. I was first impressive, i thought she was hostess. The service was fast but i spent time a bit longer there because of my flight, then the table next to me, didn't have us dollar to pay their bill. The waitress didn't know how to response, so she asked a manager to come, it turned the first asian lady was a sora manager, she helped them by taking to the exchange money and quick returned. I also liked my roll she recommaned. It was good killing time while I was mad with the flight delayed.
