I was in Dallas looking for a place to get an early supper before going to a nearby YMCA to swim laps. Ater I lef the client site, I used the in-car GPS system to search for a Japanese restaurant. The closest was Royal Sushi.

As I drove toward Royal Sushi I entered a mini Asia-town the business names and signs were definitely Asian and mainly Korean. It looked promising. Finally in a little strip mall full of Korean stores I found Royal Sushi. I had to turn around in a nearby parking lot and as I drove back I saw another Korean/Jaoanese restaurant and a seafood store advertising several varieties of sashimi grade fish.

The exterior of Royal Sushi was not very inspiring, but inside the restaurant is clean and modern. Royal Sushi is a combination Japanese/Korean restaurant. There are tables set up for Korean bar-b-que near the front, a small sushi bar with about 6 chairs and several regular tables.

The menu includes a few Japanese specials like Udon and fried rice. There were only a few Japanese appetizers, Gyoza and Edamame. The sushi menu had several sushi and sashimi combinations. There were no Maki (rolls) on the menu and either no or few Nigiri.

I ordered small sashimi combo and an order of Gyoza. The sashimi combo came with a Miso soup and 16 pieces of sashimi. The sashimi included tuna, salmon, yellowtail and halibut. The fish was of excellent quality. Firm fresh and not the least bit slimy. I wil definitely make Royal Sushi a regular stop when I am in North Dallas.

The fish was so good, it made me forget about the inattentive service
