This time it was not my fault. I was teaching a class in the area and some students suggested we go out for sushi. They chose the place and I tagged along. The company was great but the food, so-so.

Matsutake is a full service Japanese restaurant with table service, a sushi bar and Teppanyaki.At lunch, Matsutake has a sushi buffet. Generally I try to avoid sushi buffets, and Matsutake is no exception.

The sushi buffet consisted of tiny ngiri pieces and some rolls. The fish seemed a bit slimey and lacked the firmness necessary for truly good sushi.

Matsutake is right outside the door of my regular Dulles area hotel. Even so I will not be returning. The Supper Club of India and their excellent lunch buffet next door is a better bet.
