It was late when I pulled into the parking lot at Sumida's. I had just come back from my normal swimming workout at the YMCA. At just over a mile high, I found myself short of breath in the pool. I had planned on swimming non-stop for about 30 minutes but at about 17 minutes I was done. I was tired and hungry, looking forward to an order of sushi and sashimi.

Sumida's is a nice looking restaurant in the basement of a building with Chinese and Thai restaurants. My waiter brought me a hot towel and quickly took my drink order. They have a full Japanese menu but that is the last good thing I can say about the place.

First the 18pc sashimi had only about 15 pieces. Just as well since some of the pieces that were on the plate were almost spoiled. They were begining to smell and did not hold up between the chopsticks. The roll I ordered looked like it had sesame seeds on only about one third of it.

I am told that Boulder has some great sushi restaurants — Sumida's is not one of them.
